About The Course

A Ph.D. program is offered in two modes- Full time and Part time and not in a distance learning mode. Hence, coursework, participation in various interactions, submission of progress reports through presentations etc. on regular basis is mandatory during the program. A Full-time Ph.D. scholar shall mean a candidate devoting full time for completing the requirements of the program and a part- time Ph.D. scholar shall mean a candidate who is devoting a part of his time towards the pursuit of the program while discharging his official / employment obligations.

Ph.D. full time is for minimum 3 years and Ph.D. part time for minimum 4 ½ years. Maximum duration in case of both the modes is 6 years. Shobhit encourages interdisciplinary research and exchange of ideas and knowledge in various related fields. Consequently, it allows scholars to appoint a Co-Guide from outside Shobhit University as per university rules. The main Guide for the scholar during the Ph.D. program will be from Shobhit University, appointed as per the research topic and Guide availability.

Eligibility for Ph.D. Program

Master’s Degree: Any candidate who has passed the Master’s examination in the concerned subject with a score of not less than 55% marks in aggregate. Candidates who have appeared in the final year examination of the Master’s degree in the subject concerned, but their result is awaited, are also eligible to appear for the Ph.D. admission entrance test.

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering: Candidates with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate in a relevant field of Engineering / Technology, with at least five years of experience in Public Sector Undertaking / Research and Development Organizations / Private Industries / Service Sectors / Educational Institutions / State or Central Government Organizations.

Important Note

  • Applicants with valid scores in JRF/NET (UGC/CSIR), GATE, GPAT, & SLET are exempted from the Entrance Test as per UGC norms.
  • Teacher Fellowship Holders/direct awardees of fellowship by DST (INSPIRE), ICMR, or any other National Agency are also exempted from the entrance test.
  • M.Phil. students who wish to take admission to the Ph.D. program after passing the M.Phil. examination in regular mode shall be exempted from course work but will have to appear in the entrance test and personal interaction.

Hostel Allocation Policy

Hostel rooms are allocated for the complete academic year only. With our complete academic year stay policy, students can avoid the hassle of relocating or searching for alternative accommodation each semester.

*The security deposit will be refundable to the student after s/he successfully completes her/his course. In case a student leaves the course midway or shifts to another institution without taking consent of the university, or without an NOC, the security deposit will be forfeited.

2. Incomplete applications or applications received without all required enclosures are liable to be rejected.
